BIG BROTHER NAIJA: Ex-housemate, Kemen tenders apology

Kemen just might be feeling some remorse after the stunt he pulled in the Big Brother Naija house and he wants to show how sorry he is.

The ex-BBN housemate who was disqualified on Sunday, March 6, 2017, for sexually harassing Tboss, while she slept, has taken to Facebook to tender his apology.
Kemen's post read:
"My name is Ekemini Ekerette, popularly known as Kemen (@Kemen_Fitness) one of the Big Brother Naija 2017 Housemate. I am a Fitness Trainer and a model before joining the Big Brother house.
"I hereby tender my sincere apologies to TBoss and ask for her forgiveness as well as all the women in Africa that I hurt from the circumstances surrounding my disqualification from the Big Brother Naija house recently.
"I knew that everybody was playing the game in the house at the same time competing for the prize. I realized that I overplayed my game which brought about my disqualification.
"As you all know, I have my fitness outfit, where I train a lot of people both men and women. There has been no case or reports of such acts from me. I regret the turn of play while trying to compete for the prize.
"I apologize to TBoss' family, fans, and friends for hurting their perception. I also use this medium to apologize to all women being the International Women's Day and the entire crew of Big Brother Nigeria, including my fans and family. #BBNaija #JustFforYou #PayPorte."
Is his post enough to earn the forgiveness of his fans? What are your thoughts?

‘I’m proud to be a Nigerian’, Lai declares after visiting NLNG

Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, says he is proud to be a Nigerian.

The minister said this after a facility tour of the plant of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited on Bonny Island, Rivers state.

He described the NLNG as a shining example of the Nigerian success story in management and technical competence.

“Until I came here I did not know that Nigeria has a humongous asset as the NLNG. I have been reading about NLNG but coming here and having a firsthand experience and information, the briefing and the tour of the place have actually changed my mind completely about the NLNG,” he said in a statement issued by Segun Adeyemi, his media aide, on Wednesday.

“I am inspired, excited and proud to be a Nigerian. This probably is the best success story of this country and my pride largely derives from the fact that this company is run by Nigerians. The management entirely represents Nigeria and when you look at the complexity of the operation, I’m also very proud that this is coming from Nigeria.”

Mohammed said the NLNG was the incubator for the growth of the nation’s oil and gas industry, and that if adequately encouraged, the company would replicate in Nigeria the kind of transformation that Qatar did with its gas reserves.

He urged the media to continue to project the NLNG positively to ensure that the vision of the company is realised.

In his remarks, Tony Attah, managing director of the NLNG, said the time had come for Nigeria to unleash its gas potential and power the economy, especially as the country has the ninth largest gas reservoir in the world with a proven 187 trillion cubic feet.

Attah said in order to realise the dream, the NLNG was embarking on the ambitious project for the construction of trains seven and eight, which would attract $25 billion foreign direct investment and the creation of 18,000 jobs in the construction phase alone.

“It’s time for gas and it’s time for Nigeria and we believe this is possible. We see that opportunity from trains seven and eight unleashing the gas potential. We see deliberate opportunities of the country going after the 600TcF of gas (reserve).  In building trains seven and eight, potential investment that will be coming is about $25 billion,” he said.

Attah said the country, through the NLNG, had succeeded in reducing gas flaring from 65 percent to 20 percent, and that it would continue to diversify the energy resources and monetise gas in the country.

According to him, the NLNG has so far paid $5.5 billion in taxes and $15 billion in dividends to the federal government and has spent $13 billion on the purchase of gas to process into liquefied form.

Man arrested for raping 3-year-old stepdaughter

Police on Wednesday in Niger arrested a 45-year-old-man, over alleged rape of his three-year-old stepdaughter.
The suspect was arrested in Kundu, a village in Rafi Local Government Area of the state.
Abdullahi Mayaki, Police Inspector attached to the state Child Rights Protection Agency, said that the mother of the girl, Malama Fatima Bawa, reported the matter to the agency.
He said that the suspect, however, denied the allegation during investigation, claiming that he only intervened whenever his wife beat the girl.
But Bawa had told the agency that she caught her husband sexually abusing her daughter after he approached her for sex at night and she refused him.
“My husband likes sex too much, so I chased him out of the room in the night and locked the door.
“It was after I chased him out that I heard my daughter, who was sleeping in the parlour, crying.
“I quickly ran to her only to see my husband abusing my daughter sexually.
“I am a breast feeding mother and I spend the whole of my day taking care of the children, yet my husband does not allow me to rest,” she told the agency in her statement.
Bawa alleged that she saw blood stained and semen on the girl’s body and informed her brother in-laws wife about the incident who advised her to take the girl to the hospital.
The Director-General of the agency, Hajiya Mariam Kolo, said that the victim would be treated in the hospital.
Kolo also said that the suspect would be charge to court in accordance with Section 18 of the Child Rights Law.
The Director-General described the act as ‘ungodly’, saying that the state government would no longer condone any form of violence against children and women.

ECOWAS court dismisses FG's suit against Nnamdi Kanu

The ECOWAS court sitting in Abuja, has reportedly dismissed the application filed by the federal government asking that the suit filed by the Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) be quashed.

The action by the court is reported to have caused jubilation among members of IPOB and those sympathetic to its plight.

Channels Television reports that Kanu’s suit seeks the court to grant him an unconditional release from detention as well as damages to the tune of $800 million.

The federal government had asked the court to dismiss the case because it is a subject matter before the Federal High Court and the appeal court.

The government said as a result, Kanu’s application constitutes an abuse of court process.

The presiding judge, Micah Wright-Williams, dismissed the application of the government for lacking in merit. The court said it has the jurisdiction to hear cases of infringement of human rights.

Boko Haram To Attack Abuja Hotels

The Nigerian Army has issued security alert on hotels in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja).

The army also said it has put new security measures in place to protect hotels and other national infrastructures and assets which are usually targets of terrorists in the Abuja.
The security cordon is on the heels of an intelligence report which reportedly revealed a fresh plan by Boko-Haram to launch another attack on the nation’s capital.
Chief Of Army Staff(COAS), Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai made this known when he received Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Valentine Ozigbo, in his office, yesterday.
Buratai said the new security arrangement came about given high profile visitors, including foreign Heads of State and other very important personalities who usually lodge at the hotel.
He said hotels like Transcorp and other five stars hotels, as well as other national assets, are usually easy targets of terrorist because of crowds who troop to such places on a daily basis.
Buratai said the army is working in conjunction with other security agencies in the FCT round the clock to ensure Boko Haram does not have easy access into the nation’s capital,.
He added that aside deploying soldiers to keep security at such places, the army also has plain clothes intelligence officers deployed there to ensure safety and security and commended the Transcorp delegation for the visit and assured them of continuous protection of the army at all times.
In his response, Ozigbo said he was at the army headquarters to brief Buratai on steps taken by the management to secure the hotel.
He commended the army for responding promptly to issues concerning Transcorp and called for collaboration between the two organisations.
Meanwhile ,the Public Complaint Commission(PCC), has appealed to the army to have a rethink over the recent dismissal of 524 soldiers from the service.
Chief Commissioner of PCC, Chief Emanuel Ogbile, who made the appeal during a courtesy visit to Buratai said given the age bracket of the dismissed soldiers, their dismissal could mean bad omen for the country.
considering what it is passing through in the hands of boko haram and other criminal groups terrorizing the country.
Ogbile, who said the dismissed soldiers had staged a peaceful protest to the CCB, office in Abuja, asking the CCB, to plead with the army authorities to reinstate them back into the service, urged Buratai, to use his good office to revisit their cases with a view to resolve it, and if necessary reinstate them “in the best interest of the Nigerian army and the country”.
He said given the involvement of the army in fighting the counterinsurgency war and other security challenges, the country cannot afford to allow another kind of terror.
Buratai, in his response, while noting that the soldiers were dismissed from service having committed one offense or the other, said “we are going to revisit their case and look at each case at his own merit with a view to resolve them in the best interest of the army and the nation.
The army chief who described the number as huge, said their dismissal has greatly affected operations of the army saying “524, is almost a battalion. We felt the impact of their dismissal but I can assure you we will look into it, which we have already started”,

Arsene Wenger to leave Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has informally told his Arsenal stars that he's leaving the club, according to reports.

Italian news outlet SNAI sport say the Frenchman has informed his stars that he'll be quitting the north Londoners.

However, Arsenal supremo Stan Kroenke is reportedly still a huge fan on Wenger and might be able to convince him to stay.

Wenger was involved in a bust-up with star player Alexis Sanchez last week.

The Chile international was then dropped for the clash with Liverpool on Saturday.

But it's claimed some other players are fiercely loyal to Wenger and could request transfers if the experienced manager moves on.

Wenger has come under even more pressure from the fans this term.

The Premier League giants have faltered in the title race.

And they are out the Champions League having been battered 10-2 on aggregate by Bayern Munich.

Juventus chief Max Allegri has been hotly tipped to take over from Wenger if he does depart.

Allegri has an impressive record in Turin but has recently fallen out with a number of senior players.

Last season he led Juve to Serie A and Coppa Italia glory.

In 2015 he also guided his side to the Champions League final - but they lost 3-1 to Barcelona.

Last night could be Wenger's final taste of European action with Arsenal.

His team were battered by Bayern Munich in the second-leg of their Champions League tie.

Arsenal went ahead through Theo Walcott but another collapse ensured a second 5-1 defeat to the Bundesliga champions.

Buhari Muhammad to undergo another penis transplant.

Nine-month-old Buhari Muhammad, whose genital was cut off by his step-mother in June 2016, would undergo his next surgery, a penis transplant, when he reaches puberty.

we recall that Muhammad had his first corrective surgery at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Bida, Niger, in February.

Suleiman Makusidi, the Head of Medical Unit of the state Child Rights Protection Agency, made the discloure on Tuesday.

According to him, “When the boy reaches puberty and when blood has started flowing through his penis, a transplant will be carried out; the transplant will be carried out either in Nigeria or abroad.

“The corrective surgery that was done in February was to reopen the hole that was created for the boy to pass urine after it was discovered that the hole was closing back.“The urinary passage, which was created like that of the female, is a temporary one to enable him pass urine.’’

“The state government is making arrangements on how to bring medical experts to examine the boy and see if the transplant can be done in Nigeria. If not, we will look at other options like South Africa or the U.S.

“We are hoping that the transplant will be successful and that it will help his reproductive system because his testicles were cut off alongside his penis; only one testicle was left,” he said.

According to Makusidi, Muhammad will use his penis effectively after a successful transplant.

Muhammad’s genital was cut off by his 17-year-old step mother, Bara’atu Muhammad, when the boy was barely a month old.

The incident occurred in Dafe community in Shiroro Local Government area of Niger in June 2016.
The step-mother had confessed that she took the action because she was jealous and she also wanted to get back at the victim’s mother whom she claimed was always insulting her.

Stop missile tests so talks can get started – China tells N’Korea

China has called on North Korea to stop testing ballistic missiles like the four that landed in the Sea of Japan earlier this week.
Beijing also said the US and South Korea should end the joint military drills that anger Pyongyang and seek talks instead.
North Korean state media said the launches of the four banned missiles were training for an attack on a US base in Japan.
Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi said the North’s tests and the joint drills were causing tension to increase like two “accelerating trains coming toward each other”.
Mr Wang asked: “Are the two sides really ready for a head-on collision?
“China’s suggestion is, as a first step, for North Korea to suspend nuclear and missile activities, and for the US and South Korea to also suspend large-scale military drills,” he added.
US policy has for many years been that the North must abandon its nuclear weapons programme before full discussions can take place.
Donald Trump’s new administration reacted to the latest missile launches by starting to deploy its THAAD anti-missile system to its ally South Korea.
China objects to THAAD as its radar can penetrate into its territory and its says its presence on the Korean peninsula upsets the regional security balance.
Mr Wang suggested that the North’s suspension of its nuclear and missile activities and the US and South Korea’s halting of their military exercises could help defuse the growing crisis.
He said the “suspension-for-suspension can help us break out of the security dilemma and bring the parties back to the negotiating table”.
“Holding nuclear weapons won’t bring security, using military force won’t be a way out. There remains a chance of resuming talks, there is still hope for peace,” he added.
China is North Korea’s largest trading partner and holds some influence over Pyongyang.
It has already suspended all coal imports from North Korea for the rest of the year.

Big Brother Naija: Why I want romantic task with Thin Tall Tony – Bisola

One of the house mates on Big Brother Naija television reality show, Bisola, has said she desired a “romantically oriented” task with her fellow housemate, ThinTallTony, TTT.

She made the disclosure during her diary session with owner of the BBNaija house, Biggie, on Tuesday.

Responding to Biggie’s question on “Who among the housemates would you want to be tied with in a romantically orientated task?” Bisola said, “Thin Tall Tony.”

Explaining her reason for picking TTT, Bisola said he knows how to tolerate her excesses.

“I can be little over bearing sometimes; I can’t play with other housemates the way I play with Tony; with Tony I can have fun,” she said.

On Kemen’s disqualification, Bisola said BBNaija took the right step by disqualifying him, stressing that what he did was wrong.

She said, “I said some unprintable worlds about her, but when she called me aside and told me what went down, I was like yooo!

“I felt really bad; I miss Kemen, I admired his drive, focus and the fact that he loves to help other youths.

“But on what he did, even if Tboss didn’t say anything or didn’t know what happened, as long as Big Brother saw it, it was enough for Big Brother to have disqualified him.

“It was really bad, I was disappointed in Kemen for what he did; I didn’t know what pushed him, but I do miss him though.”

Osinbajo, a selfless leader, law reform advocate – Aregbesola

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has joined other prominent Nigerians to felicitate with the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as he clocks 64.

Aregbesola, in a state statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr Semiu Okanlawon, described Osinbajo as a judicial revolutionary whose contributions to the administration of justice have changed the face of the judiciary in Nigeria.

He said when the accounts of law reforms in Nigeria are given, Osinbajo’s robust contributions would continue to be a source of reference.

Describing him as one prominent promoter of selfless leadership, Aregbesola said Osinbajo’s trajectory of service to the people has seen him taking up worthy causes for no personal gains as long as they serve humanity well.

“In public and personal lives, Prof Osinbajo has demonstrated that the most worthy service is that carried out for the good of fellow human beings even for no personal gains and comfort,” Aregbesola noted.

Recalling his roles in the pioneering efforts of Lagos State in law reforms, the Osun Governor, who served along Osinbajo when the later was the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State, said the face of Judiciary did not remain the same after eight years of Osinbajo’s intensive reforms as the Chief Law Officer.

“Today, it is gratifying to note that his pioneering efforts in that sector have influenced in no small dimension, similar reforms in other parts of the country. This is one crucial aspect of our national life as a people where the acting President has had a tremendous impact.

He said the Vice President has demonstrated that he is a man of the people, always identifying with the grassroots across the country.

The statement read further, “On this occasion of your birthday, I join you and your immediate and political families in celebrating the abundant grace of God in your life.

“Your life has been an eventful one dotted by numerous achievements and accomplishments.

“Nigeria has benefited immensely from your fountain of knowledge, a wealth of experience, and leadership acumen.

“The remarkable impact you have made in all spheres of human endeavour remains a reference point.”

“You are indeed a cerebral academic per excellence, a judicial revolutionary; stabilising force; a bridge-builder, an embodiment of and astute observer of the rule of law.

“This is so that you can continue to make significant contributions to the overall development of our country, Nigeria in general.

“On behalf of the government and the people of Osun, I congratulate you on the attainment of this age.”

Senate cancels protest visit to South Africa

The senate has cancelled its planned visit to the South African parliament to protest against the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians.

Ike Ekweremadu, deputy senate president, announced the decision of upper legislative during a plenary session on Wednesday.

He said the decision of the senate was informed by the need for the legislature to send a single delegation to South Africa.

The house of representatives had already nominated Femi Gbajabiamila, house leader, to lead five members of the lower legislative chamber to South Africa for the same reason.

They are – Nnenna Okeje, Sadiq Ibrahim, Henry Nwawuba, Nasiru Daura, and Shehu Musa.

Last Tuesday, the senate resolved to send a strong delegation to South Africa to protest against the attacks on Nigerians in the country.

The upper legislative chamber took the decision after‎ Rose Oko, a senator from Cross River north, moved a motion urging it to intervene in the resurgence of xenophobic attacks.

In recent times, aggrieved South Africans have attacked Nigerians and their businesses.

The Nigerian Union in the country reported that pieces of property worth millions were destroyed in the attacks.

Responding to the development last Tuesday, the senate resolved “to send a strong parliamentary delegation to the South African parliament to register its displeasure at the xenophobic attacks on Nigerians”.

But the senate has now aborted the plan.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, senior special assistant to the president on foreign affairs and diaspora, had earlier warned the South Afric‎an government against the attacks, threatening consequences if they persist.

That is not my husband, wife of Apostle Suleman speaks

Dr. Lizzy Johson Suleman and wife of the General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman has said that the man being described as an adulterer or a cheat in the pictures circulating on social media is not her husband that she rightly knows for nineteen years now.

Apostle Suleman’s wife also said that the lady, Miss Stephanie Otobo, who has been blackmailing and releasing fake pictures of her husband, claiming Apostle Suleman had a love affair with her was only capitalising on the generous nature of her husband to tarnish his image.

In a recorded video released by the Omega Fire Ministries, Mrs. Suleman said, in fact, she and her husband are not surprised at what is happening and that her husband is even about ministering for the day, indicating that they are not bordered having known that the allegations are the orchestration of people who felt wounded when the Apostle spoke against the killings of Christians in some parts of the country.

Recall that a Canada-based Nigerian Miss Stephanie Otobo had few days ago released a video and some photos of her wherein she claimed that Apostle Johnson Suleman allegedly had amorous affair with her. She also claimed that the man of God promised to marry her after impregnating her but later dumped her. However, Apostle Suleman has vehemently denied such ever happening, saying the lady is only capitalising on his generosity to tarnish his image.

Why I want to win IBU world record in Nigeria – Bash Ali writes Yemi Osinbajo

Former world cruiser-weight boxing champion, Bash Ali, has written the Acting-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo explaining why he wants his International Boxing Union (IBU) title fight to hold in Nigeria.

Ali said other previous winners of the IBU world title whose names were also entered into the Guinness Book of records as the oldest fighters of their respective times, did so in their home countries. Hence, his bid to join their ranks cannot be any different.

In a copy of the letter to the Acting-President which was made available to the media, Ali narrated his ordeal in the hands of various sports administrators in his bid to realize his ambition, adding that the organisers of the fight had now given him a deadline to furnish them with the process to the fight.

He wrote: “Sir, the International Boxing Union (IBU) has given Nigeria a March 10, 2017 deadline to give them a letter guaranteeing the safety of the 170 member countries that would be in Nigeria to watch the historic fight and to pay the overdue $1M IBU approval fee or lose the right to host to Germany. I am offered big time money to fight in Germany but I prefer my country, Nigeria.

“Sir, George Foreman set the GWR in his country, America. Joe Bugner set the GWR in his country, Australia. Bernard Hopkins set the GWR in his country, America. And now that it is your brother’s turn, it has become an unpardonable crime to want to break the GWR at home so Nigeria can get the benefits. My plight has caught the attention of the International community that one of the most respected newspapers in the world, New York Times had to write about it.”

Ali has for over 10 years been struggling to enter his name in the Guinness Book of World Records as the oldest boxer to win a world title.

Fayose says Obasanjo should be jailed for corruption

The Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose has alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo looted funds while he was in government.

According to reports, Fayose also said the former President should be jailed, adding that he is corrupt.
Fayose also called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the assets of the former President.
The Governor wondered if all the assets Obasanjo allegedly owns was acquired only with his salary when he was President.
The Governor said “Look at somebody talking about corruption, when Obasanjo just returned from the prison, they should go and bring his picture and his asset, what was his worth when he was in prison and what happened after eight years when he looted the treasury.
“All those assets he now has in Obasanjo library and university and all that, are they products of his salary? So when they talk in this country we want to be able to listen and evaluate what they are talking about.
“Obasanjo should be behind the bars. The money that he used to bribe members of the National Assembly during his botched third term agenda, where did the money come from? Was it from his holier than thou presidency, or what?"

The Ekiti Governor also told the former President to return his N10m with interest.
