Senator Dino Melaye has reportedly threatened to beat up Senator Oluremi Tinubu who is the wife of the leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Melaye, an alleged wife-beater, who is a member of the APC and represents Kogi West, reportedly flew into a rage during a rowdy closed door meeting where some senators discussed the proposed trial of the leadership of the senate for forgery.
According to reports from Sahara Reporters, the senators at the meeting also threatened to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over the forgery trial.
During the meeting, Melaye reportedly stated in his remarks that the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, must be brought before the Senate to be thoroughly grilled and humiliated for charging the Senate leadership with forgery in court. He further urged the Senators in attendance to fight the presidency to a standstill.
After several threats by Melaye, Senator Remi Tinubu of the APC who represents Lagos Central said the Senate should not be reduced to a kindergarten where Senators could just issue childish threats, and called on Senators to close ranks and seek reconciliation amongst its members.
Melaye then reportedly got angry and started calling her names. He then said: “I will beat you up on this floor and nothing will happen."
The statement caused some commotion on the floor as Senators in her support gathered to protect her while others supported Melaye, with Senate President, Bukola Saraki, nodding.
Leading the offensive in support of Melaye were Senators Danjuma Goje, Jibrin Barau, Isa Misau and Peter Nwaoboshi.
Sahara Reporters also reports that there had been a series of meetings at the home of Senator Aliyu Wamakko of the APC, representing Sokoto, to plot a total onslaught on President Buhari in the coming days.
